The transition to veganism is a process which varies for each individual and for each circumstance. The following steps, however, may serve as a guide:


-Eliminate animal products from your diet one by one, rather than all at once. Start with the things you can live without and work your way down to the essentials. This will help you adjust to the new lifestyle gradually with less hardship.


-Gradually consume fewer animal products or swap out high-fat items for lower fat substitutes with similar textures (e.g., sour cream -> cashew).


-Try new vegan products.


-Join a vegan group, website, forum, or community.


-Evaluate why you feel compelled to eat animal products. Consider whether they are medically or psychologically necessary or just habits.
